(for Alan Llwyd, Welsh-language poet)
Like someone making a dry-stone wall,
You choose your words, their echoing sounds,
With focused care. You place them on the field
Of the page, so that they create a texture
Of harmony when read aloud,
A structured symphony of sentences
That will deepen the message
Of what you are saying,
And hopefully touch the iambic-beat heart
Of the listener tuned into a magical music,
A slowly read river of rhythms, as you
Orchestrate language beyond just meaning.
