Peter has been invited back to America in July 2011 for two months.

He will reside in Big Sur from July to September as a poet-in-residence, the guest of poet and artist Carolyn Mary Kleefeld. His second American book, POEMS FROM A CABIN ON BIG SUR (Cross-Cultural Communications, New York), will have its American launch at the Henry Miller Library, Big Sur, organised by Monterey’s John Dotson and Big Sur’s Patricia Holt.

He will also participate in other events, including an inaugural Los Angeles American/Korean Festival, arranged by his American publisher Stanley H. Barkan.

POEMS FROM A CABIN ON BIG SUR will have its Welsh launch in Swansea in May.


Peter has been invited to New York by the Welsh Assembly Government in New York for the media launch of the revamped DYLAN THOMAS WALKING TOUR OF GREENWICH VILLAGE on March 4th. It has been officially taken over by the city's New York Fun Tours operator, and will be offered as a weekly tour to those visiting New York. It will be in memory of Aeronwy, Dylan's daughter. The launch will be part of WALES WEEK USA: March 1 - 6, 2011. Peter originally wrote the Tour in 2008, with the support of Aeronwy.

The tour is being re-launched on March 4 this year by Swansea-born poet Peter Thabit Jones as part of Wales Week 2011 - WESTERN MAIL newspaper, 26th February 2011.


The Seventh Quarry and Cross-Cultural Communications, New York 

A three-day festival of Poetry Readings, Drama, DVD presentations, Music, and a Book and Art Portfolio Display will take place from 16th to 18th June, featuring writers and performers from AMERICA, ARGENTINA, BULGARIA, CANADA, CATALONIA, CORNWALL, ENGLAND, INDIA, ISRAEL, ITALY, KOREA, ROMANIA, RUSSIA, SCOTLAND, SERBIA, SICILY, AND WALES.

Hosted by Peter Thabit Jones and Stanley H. Barkan at the Dylan Thomas Theatre, Swansea.

Extra festival events at The Boathouse, Laugharne; Dylan Thomas House, Swansea; and the Nick Holly Art Studio, Swansea.


Peter's portrait has been painted by Long Island artist David Martine for permanent display in the planned Long Island Poetry Archival Center. The portrait is part of a series of paintings of poets by David, who has had exhibitions in many galleries, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. The Center is the brainchild of The North Sea Poetry Scene's Tammy Nuzzo-Morgan, a leading poet and publisher.


Peter is interviewed in the latest issue of the Romanian literary journal MARMATIA LITERIA/REVISTA FESTIVALULUI INTERNATIONAL DE POEZIE DE LA SIHETU MARMATIEI. His interviewer is Romanian poet and editor Vasile Proca. The English version was translated into Romanian by Dr. Olimpia Iacob, who is the translator of two of Peter's books published in Romania and dozens of his poems and articles published in other Romanian journals.


Peter’s poem THE BIRD OF GRIEF, from his forthcoming book POEMS FROM A CABIN ON BIG SUR (Cross-Cultural Communications, New York), is matched with poet and artist Carolyn Mary Kleefeld’s painting ST. ELAINE AND HER GUARDIANS as part of the ongoing IMMAGINE&POESIA Poetry and Art Project. The artistic literary movement was founded in Torino, Italy, in 2007.Peter is the U.K. representative for IMMAGINE&POESIA.

Peter's STARS AT ELBOW AND FOOT: ECHOES OF SLAVERY, a long poem-sequence, which was premiered at Swansea's National Waterfront Museum as part of its exhibition on slavery, EVERYWHERE IN CHAINS, is to be translated into Romanian by Dr. Olimpia Iacob and published by Caiete Internationale De Poezie. It will be accompanied by his INTERNAL VOICES, a new essay about being a poet.


Peter is featured in a travelling exhibition in America. The exhibition features Catherine Zeta Jones, Anthony Hopkins, Tom Jones, and others who have been embraced by America.

Martin writes on his website: This is an overture I was asked to write for a verse play by the Welsh poet Peter Thabit Jones. The play was performed for the first time in Monterey, CA, along with this recorded version of my overture. The aforementioned author, director John Dotson, and audience were very pleased with the piece.


A new poetry collection, POEMS FROM A CABIN ON BIG SUR, about Peter's time as a writer-in-residence in Big Sur, California, in April/May, 2010, is forthcoming from Cross-Cultural Communications, New York, in March 2011. 

The poems will be accompanied by a selection of photos and an Introduction by New York's Vince Clemente.

Peter has been invited back to America in April 2010 for six weeks.

He will be visiting poet at Binghamton University, State University of New York, as the guest of Maria Mazziotti Gillan, who runs The Poetry Center in New Jersey.

He will also give various poetry readings and literary talks, including venues such as the Baruch College in Manhattan, hosted by Professor Sultan Catto of City University of New York, and The North Sea Poetry Scene on Long Island, during his stay.

He will then travel to Monterey, California, for several poetry readings and literary talks, and then reside at Big Sur for the whole month of May as a writer-in-residence, the guest of Carolyn Mary Kleefeld. His recently published verse drama, THE BOY AND THE LION'S HEAD, will be performed publicly for the first time in Monterey, California, directed by dramatist, poet and biographer John Dotson.

The organiser of his New York visit is his American publisher Stanley H. Barkan of Cross-Cultural Communications, New York.


Written by Welsh poet Peter Thabit Jones and Aeronwy Thomas, daughter of Dylan Thomas and herself a poet, in association with the Welsh Assembly Government/Wales International Center, New York.

October, 2008 saw the New York press launch of the DYLAN THOMAS WALKING TOUR OF GREENWICH VILLAGE, NEW YORK, including the new podcast facility featuring Welsh actor John Pierce Jones.

Peter and Aeronwy were commissioned by Catrin Brace of the Wales International Center, New York, to write the WALKING TOUR, which appears on their website and major American and British tourism/websites.

Potential tourists to New York are able to download (PDF - 1540Kb) and print it and use as a practical Guide to "follow in Dylan's footsteps".

It contains essential biographical material on Dylan, information on his American tours, information - literary and basic facts - on each place connected with Dylan, and an Addenda: brief notes on other people and places mentioned throughout the Guide, such as Swansea, Laugharne, American novelist Norman Mailer, and John Malcom Brinnin, Dylan's Tours organiser.

The publication coincided with the release of a new film about the life of Dylan Thomas called The Edge of Love , which stars Matthew Rhys, Keira Knightley and Sienna Miller. Catrin Brace, who works for the Welsh Assembly Government in New York said: "Fifty years after his death, there is still a huge interest both in Wales and the USA in Dylan Thomas and his work. Visitors will be able to gain a strong sense of the real man behind "the brassy orator" with "the lovely gift of the gab", as well as giving people a real feel for the Greenwich Village of the 1950s."

Peter has been invited back to America in April and May 2009. In April he will be the guest of the University of Colorado in Boulder Colorado, for a week of events at a World Conference. In May he will carry out a a series of poetry readings and literary talks in New York, where he will be hosted by Professor Sultan Catto of City University of New York, The Graduate Center, and his American publisher Stanley H. Barkan.

Whilst in New York he will also participate in a new project with Stanley, who is planning to produce a DVD based on the popular Dylan Thomas Walking Tour of Greenwich Village, New York, written by Peter and Aeronwy Thomas, Dylan's daughter, which was commissioned by Catrin Brace of the Wales International Center, New York in May 2008. Peter will produce a narrative contribution and Swansea singer-songwriter Terry Clarke, a frequent participant at The Seventh Quarry/Cross-Cultural Communications Visiting Poets Events, will sing original songs and compose the incidental music.


Peter has recorded a brief section of the the opening of Dylan Thomas's Under Milk Wood for the South Wales Evening Post newspaper's popular website devoted to Dylan Thomas. Peter was recorded at the historic BBC studios in Swansea, where Dylan Thomas and the Welsh actor Richard Burton both made recordings. Peter returns to Romania in November/December 2009 for a week of events, including the official launch of his verse drama, The Boy and the Lion's Head , poetry readings at various venues, media interviews, and as visiting poet to three colleges. He will be hosted by Dr. Olimpia Iacob, his translator.
