Peter will be in America from early May until July. He will give a poetry reading at the Yale Club in New York on 17th May and then head for Big Sur in California, where he will be a writer-in-residence for the tenth time since 2010. Whilst in California, his latest book AMERICA, AERONWY, AND ME/DYLAN THOMAS TRIBUTE TOUR will be launched in Carmel on June 24th.
Peter's poem 'Modris', which is about a retired Welsh miner, is to be digitised by The National Poetry Library, London, as part of their 'poem card' programme. Poems in the programme will eventually be displayed on the Library's prestigious website.
Peter's chamber opera libretto, Ermesinde's Long Walk, in his collaboration with renowned Luxembourg composer Albena Petrovic Vratchanska, is to be performed by Ars Nová Lux at the State Opera House Stara Zagora, Bulgaria, on 5th December, 2018.
Peter's verse drama THE BOY AND THE LION'S HEAD, about the dying days of a grandfather, a soldier in the First World War, and its impact on his young grandson, is part of the 2018 Swansea International Festival of Music and the Arts. It will be performed at the National Waterfront Museum, Swansea, by The Seventh Quarry Drama Group on Thursday, 27th September, starting at 7.30pm.

Peter's poem HARRY PUSHED HER, about a young boy and his older disabled sister, is being used in Live Poetry Jukebox at this year's Ledbury Poetry Festival and this year's Felixstowe Book Festival. Maeve O'Neil, an arts producer working with artist and theatre maker Adie Mueller, has developed an interactive poetry performance installation (in collaboration with designer Trui Malten), called Live Poetry Jukebox. The project is funded by Arts Council England. HARRY PUSHED HER will be used in the UK touring project up to 2021.
A production of Peter's drama, THE FIRE IN THE WOOD, about Big Sur sculptor Edmund Kara, is to take place in California in May and June 2018, whilst Peter is a writer-in-residence there for a ninth time.
Produced and directed by Carmel’s Carey Crockett, the drama will open at the Henry Miller Library, Big Sur, on 19th May and then move on to the Carl Cherry Center for the Arts, in Carmel, for a two weekend run of six performances: June 1st 2nd , & 3rd and June 8th , 9th & 10th .
The Carl Cherry performances will coincide with an exhibition of some of Edmund Kara’s sculptures at the Center.
Peter's first libretto for a chamber opera, Ermesinde's Long Walk, in a collaboration with Luxembourg composer Albena Petrovic Vratchanska, is to be performed at Castello Ducale, Torremaggiore, in Italy on February 17th.
His second libretto, with Albena and Svetla Georgieva, Love and Jealousy, a two acts full opera with orchestra (duration two hours) will have its world premiere on 15th May at the National Opera House Stara Zagora in Bulgaria.
Peter is attending the world premiere of his first libretto, Ermesinde's Long Walk, which will take place at the Philarmonie Luxembourg on 11th November. It is the first of three commissioned libretti for operas in a collaboration with Luxembourg-based composer Albena Petrovic-Vratchanska. It will also be performed in December at the Centre Altrimenti, Luxembourg, and in February 2018 at the Castello Ducale, Torremaggiore, Italy.
Peter will be a writer-in-residence in Big Sur, California, from July to September. Whilst there, he will work on a new book, AMERICA, AERONWY, AND ME, which will be published in 2018 on the tenth anniversary of his American tour with Aeronwy Thomas, organized by his New York publisher Stanley H. Barkan. He will also work on three chamber opera libretti, in a collaboration with Luxembourg-based composer Albena Petrovic-Vratchanska. They will have their world premieres in Luxembourg (November 2017), Bulgaria (2018), and Kosovo and Luxembourg (2018).
Peter will be a participant at the "Celebrating the Poetic Legacy of Whitman, Williams, and Ginsberg" Conference on June 3, 2017, at The Poetry Centre at Passaic County Community College in Paterson, New Jersey, USA. He will be on a panel, "How to lift poetry from the page", with Dr. Daniel Donaghy of Eastern Connecticut State University and Phillip D. Provance of West Virginia Wesleyan College.

The book launch of Peter's drama, The Fire in the Wood, which is based on the life of California's Big Sur sculptor Edmund Kara, will take place on Saturday, March 25th, 2pm, at the National Waterfront Museum, Swansea. Published by Cross-Cultural Communications, New York, and The Seventh Quarry Press, excerpts from the drama will be read by The Seventh Quarry Drama Group. Entry is free.
The book will also be launched in Boston, Massachusetts, in May and in Big Sur, California, in the summer.
Peter has been asked to be a co-judge of the 2017 Dylan Thomas American Poet Prize. The other two judges are American poet John Smelcer and American-Canadian poet Molly Peacock, the past president of the Poetry Society of America.
